Guided by the farm’s oldest pig Old Major’s dream of a more equal society, the animals of Manor Farm rebel against their despotic and neglectful owner, Mr Jones, and take control of the farm. Once in power, they try to establish justice and equality for all. However, as time passes, tyranny rears its ugly head, their ideals are pushed aside, and the farm falls into dictatorship. Does that ring a bell? Orwell’s powerful criticism remains more than relevant for the challenges facing us today and should be (re)read with a renewed sense of urgency.
